Paw paws are self infertile and usually pollinated by flies! They also reproduce clonally, so many seemingly different trees in one area may actually be the same individual! These factors often lead to poor natural pollination rates for paw paws, but we can help them out! Paw paw flowers go through a female stage and then a male stage. I gather the pollen from male stage plants in one area, then go to another area and use the pollen I gathered on the female stage flowers that I find! A tiny pain
