Scientists studied a type of RNA called TERRA, which is involved in cancer growth and some aging related processes. They designed a special molecule that can recognize TERRA by its unique folded loop shape. Once this molecule binds to TERRA, it attracts a natural enzyme inside the cell called RNase L.
