The nymph of an immature spittlebug or froghopper creates a foamy mass known as cuckoo spit to avoid dehydration and protect itself from predators. These insects primarily feed on plant juices and usually don’t cause significant damage to plants. However, they can spread a plant pathogen called Xylella fastidiosa. Xylella fastidiosa is a bacterium that affects more than 600 plant species and threatens agricultural crops. Olive, coffee, almond, citrus, plum, peach, blueberry, and grape crops are
