Georgia Republican Burt Jones has officially entered the 2026 governor’s race. He highlighted his ties to Donald Trump and pledged to eliminate the state income tax in a campaign video released Tuesday.

Lt. Governor Burt Jones has entered the race with a substantial financial advantage — a $14 million campaign war chest, including $10 million of his own money. His opponent, Attorney General Chris Carr, has raised $3.5 million and is already drawing contrasts between the two.

Jones says he will eliminate state income tax and end fentanyl overdoses in Georgia. Democrats accuse his failed leadership for other issues.
