License plate cameras attached to patrol vehicles read plates in real time. These vehicles are parked along the highway during crackdowns.

Since its opening in the 1960s, the Verrazzano Bridge has been the only direct connection from Brooklyn to Staten Island, making for a one long commute for Brooklynites and Staten Islanders.
