Donald Trump could not help but talk up Vladimir Putin’s intentions during a joint press conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday. While the two leaders were meeting to discuss peace efforts to end the Ukraine war – which Putin started with his February 2022 invasion – the US president once again appeared to side with Russia.
Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone shortly before the meeting. Trump described it as a “good and very productive telephone call.”
Trump is set to announce Monday at 4:30 p.m. from Mar-a-Lago with Pete Hegseth and John Phelan, amid concerns of US escalation in Venezuela.
