Minnesota state Sen. Nicole Mitchell has resigned from office one week after she was found guilty on both charges in her burglary trial. Mitchell announced her resignation in a Facebook post on Friday afternoon.

State Sen. Nicole Mitchell resigned from office Friday after her conviction last week on two felony burglary charges.

The state senator, who says she’ll resign in August, was convicted on charges that carry a mandatory minimum sentence of six months in jail.
