Meta is building data centers in tents to rapidly scale AI infrastructure and try to catch rivals such as DeepSeek, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google.

Mark Zuckerberg said on Monday that Meta Platforms would spend hundreds of billions of dollars to build several massive AI data centers for superintelligence, intensifying his pursuit of a technology he has chased with a talent war for top engineers.

Meta's founder Mark Zuckerberg has said the social media giant will spend hundreds of billions of dollars on building huge AI data centres in the US. The first multi-gigawatt data centre, called Prometheus, is expected to come online in 2026, Zuckerberg said.
