A line of severe thunderstorms prompted the FAA to issue a ground stop Tuesday morning at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, halting all flights headed into the world's busiest airport and triggering rapidly growing delays across the Southeast.

Parts of Mississippi and Alabama face a Slight Risk of severe storms Tuesday as conditions may support rotating thunderstorms later in the day. Forecasters say a couple of tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

Tuesday has been designated a First Warning Impact Day as multiple rounds of storms will sweep across Alabama, potentially impacting travel across the state. There is potential for isolated severe storms.

A strong cold front will cross our area this afternoon, and showers & storms are expected ahead of it. There will be atmospheric elements in place that could support storms reaching severe limits. Damaging wind will be the main threat, but tornadoes are also possible.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan says we can expect to see multiple rounds of showers and storms across north Georgia today. Isolated strong or even severe storms are possible. After sunrise, the first round will bring heavy rain, especially to areas north of I-20.

The Bureau of Meteorology has signalled that Wednesday’s hot, dry winds across NSW will push fire danger to its most severe levels since 2023, with a catastrophic rating issued for the Lower Central West Plains and extreme ratings extending through 10 other regions, including Greater Sydney, the Hunter and the Illawarra/Shoalhaven.
