Steven Kwan and manager Stephen Vogt were headed to the All-Star Game in Atlanta. Kwan drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th and then made a great catch in the bottom of the inning to help preserve it. The Kansas City Royals opted to take Van Dam, drafting him in the ninth round (278th overall). Van Dam appeared in three games this May and picked up four strikeouts in eight innings. In 2022, Van Dam was part of a sectional championship team with Cranford, reaching the Group 3 state finals.
