The death of a Mexican farmworker during a raid by federal officers at a California cannabis farm has sparked an outcry over ICE tactics.
VENTURA COUNTY, California ‒ Around 200 people were arrested when federal law enforcement officers executed criminal warrants at a farm near Camarillo and another in Carpinteria, according to a statement released July 11 by the Department of Homeland Security.
“While (Homeland Security Investigations) respects the public’s right to peacefully express disagreement with immigration enforcement, physical assaults on federal officers and interference with lawful operations will not be tolerated,” ICE said a day after the arrests.
