Chicago Bears stun Green Bay Packers in improbable rally, Williams finds Moore for OT winning score
The Chicago Bears defeated the Green Bay Packers Saturday night at Soldier Field in another comeback win after a long touchdown pass from Caleb Williams to DJ Moore sealed the game 22-16 in overtime.
The loss puts the Packers (9-5-1) 1 1/2 games behind the Bears (11-4) in the NFC North with two games to play. The Packers still hold the final spot in the NFC playoffs with two games remaining. If the current postseason standings hold, the Packers would open the playoffs against the Bears at Soldier Field.
Despite playing without two star defensive linemen, the Packers defense played well enough to win until several failures at the end against the Bears.
On their potential final play of the game, very similar to their Week 14 matchup, Caleb Williams had a chance to tie the game up and did just that. Facing a fourth-and-4, Williams found rookie Jahdae Walker who hauled in his second career catch and scored on a 6-yard touchdown pass.
When the Packers were one yard away from a fresh set of downs to move into more comfortable field goal range in overtime, another mistake derailed their plans. The snap to Malik Willis ended up on the ground almost instantly, and the Bears quickly swarmed toward the ball to prevent Green Bay from advancing it for a first down.
Willis fumbled a fourth-down snap in the extra period to end Green Bay’s possession, and Chicago quarterback Caleb Williams threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver DJ Moore four snaps later to give the Bears a 22-16 victory.
The Chicago Bears enjoyed a miracle overtime win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 16. Here are the biggest takeaways.
The Green Bay Packers, led by quarterback Jordan Love, face the Chicago Bears, led by quarterback Caleb Williams, on Saturday night at Soldier Field in Chicago, Ill.
The Packers had a 5-game winning streak snapped Sunday, falling 34-26 to the Denver Broncos as 1-point road favorites with the Over (42) cashing. QB Jordan Love was picked off twice and sacked twice, while Broncos QB Bo Nix threw 4 TD passes.
