Coroner says 5-year-old boy at center of IAN Alert in Hart County, Kentucky, died from drowning
The IAN Alert was named for Ian Sousis, a northern Kentucky boy with autism who escaped a children's home. He was found after he drown in the Ohio River. The IAN Alert is issued for missing children under 18 with intellectual disability or mental illness.
Coroner: Kentucky 5-year-old who prompted IAN Alert died from drowning
The IAN Alert system became active in Kentucky one year ago, named after Ian Sousis, a 9-year-old boy with autism who ran away from a children’s home in northern Kentucky and drowned in the Ohio River in 2022. According to the National Autism Association, drowning is among the leading causes of death for people with autism.
