A Pineapple Express storm could deliver one of Southern California’s stormiest Christmases in recent memory. The storm is expected to deliver 4 to 8 inches of rain between Tuesday and Saturday throughout most of Los Angeles County, Orange County and the Inland Empire.

Ventura and Los Angeles counties are expected to see some of the highest rainfall totals. In all, coastal and valley areas could receive around 4 to 6 inches of rainfall over the five days. Foothills and mountains could see up to 12 inches.

As holiday shoppers gather last-minute gifts and families finalize plans with their loved ones next week, a system is quietly forming at the moment and may deliver wet weather to Southern California during the festivities.

The heavy rain could also cause flooding and debris flow in burn scarred areas, bringing much of southern California under a Flood watch around the same time.

Santa Clarita residents can expect temperatures to begin dropping this weekend with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s Saturday, and see highs reaching the mid 50s into Christmas week.
