Couche-Tard drops $47bn acquisition bid for Seven & i
Canada’s Alimentation Couche-Tard (ACT) has withdrawn its $47bn proposal to acquire Japanese retail giant Seven & i Holdings. ACT, the parent company of Circle K, blamed a lack of “constructive engagement” by 7-Eleven owner during the almost year-long pursuit since acquisition talks began in July 2024.

TOKYO, July 17 (Reuters) - Canada's Alimentation Couche-Tard (ATD.TO) on Thursday pulled its $46 billion bid to buy Seven & i Holdings (3382.T), saying the retailer refused to engage constructively on the deal, which would have been Japan's largest ever foreign buyout.
